ISRO announces the launch of Mangalyaan-2, India's second mission to Mars, scheduled for 2025 with advanced scientific objectives.

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has announced plans for Mangalyaan-2, India's second mission to Mars, scheduled for launch in 2025. This mission aims to build upon the success of the first Mangalyaan mission and conduct advanced scientific research.

Mission Objectives

  • Study Martian atmosphere and climate patterns
  • Search for signs of past or present life
  • Analyze surface composition and geology
  • Test technologies for future human missions

Mangalyaan-2 will carry advanced scientific instruments including a high-resolution camera, atmospheric sensors, and a spectrometer to analyze the Martian surface. The mission is expected to provide valuable insights into the Red Planet's history and potential for supporting life.

ISRO Chairman Dr. S. Somanath stated that the mission represents India's growing capabilities in space exploration. "Mangalyaan-2 will demonstrate our advanced technological capabilities and contribute significantly to global understanding of Mars," he said.

The first Mangalyaan mission, launched in 2013, was a remarkable success, making India the first Asian country to reach Mars orbit and the first country to do so on its maiden attempt. The mission operated successfully for over seven years, far exceeding its planned mission duration.

With Mangalyaan-2, India aims to further establish itself as a key player in planetary exploration and contribute to international efforts to understand our solar system.
